The Scottish Schools’ Athletics Association held their indoor championships at the Emirates Arena on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 February. Nana Akuoko (Form V) won a bronze medal in the O/16 Triple Jump and finished in 7th place overall in the O/16 Long Jump. Sarah Coutts (Form IV) won bronze in the O/16 800m. This was made more remarkable as she had taken a heavy fall just before the finishing line in the 1500m the previous day. Paige Stevens (Form II) accumulated three 4th places in Long Jump, High Jump and Shot Put in the U/16 age group. Well done to all three pupils!
Paige also attended the Scottish Club Indoor Pentathlon Championships on 17 February, competing in the U/15 age group along with 31 other girls from across the UK and Ireland. Not only did she achieve two P.B.s in Long Jump and 800m she performed well enough in the other disciplines to win the gold medal. Many congratulations to her on winning her first national medal.
On 2 March, sixteen of our athletes will be competing in the Scottish Senior Schools’ Cross Championships which will be held at the Hopetoun House Estate, South Queensferry. Good luck to all involved.
