Sports Weekend 2019: CCF Passing Out Parade and Pipe Band Display

On Sunday 23 June, the CCF Passing Out Parade and Pipe Band Display brought the Bicentenary celebrations to a close.

In keeping with tradition, over 200 cadets and our Pipe Band marched to the Dollar Parish Church to attend the service on Sunday morning. Pupils then returned to school for the annual CCF Passing Out Parade, which took place in front of the marquee.

Fifty-six cadets moved up to Senior Service Sections and a total of nine Senior cadets were appointed for the next academic year. The parade ended when Regimental Sergeant Major Iona Kelly took up her new role as the Head of CCF.

At noon, the Pipe Band Display began. After a welcome to the spectators, the Massed Bands performed “Scotland the Brave”, “Bonnie Galloway”, “Rowan Tree” and “The Old Rustic Bridge”. This was followed by the Dollar Academy Juvenile Band, who performed “Dollar Sunrise” – the piece commissioned by the school to commemorate two-hundred years of Dollar Academy. Composed by Lincoln Hilton, and arranged by Pipe Band Major Matthew Wilson and Assistant Rector Mr Simon Burbury, this piece was enjoyed by all.

The Pipe Band Display continued with performances from the Novice Juvenile A Band, this year’s leavers and further performances from the Massed Bands. Dollar’s Highland Dancers – Ailie, Anya, Symantha and Holly – also gave impressive performances. Thank you to everyone who came along.
