On Thursday 28 June 2018 three pupils (Sarah Dewar, Thomas Greer and Andrew King, who had all just completed Form V), were invited to a shares4schools event winners’ day at the Mansion House in London (a tremendous building, constructed in the mid-1700’s as one of only two residences in Europe for lord mayors). It was a stunning venue for the occasion.
The pupils were being recognised for having come top of the regional area of the shares4schools investment competition, which runs from October to the following June each year. This is the first time that Dollar Academy has won part of the event and, next year, we plan to enter two teams to give more Form V pupils the chance to learn about investing in shares and unit trusts.

Mr Moore (Head of Business Education) commented that, ‘The day in London was fun-packed, with speeches, a lunch and informal discussions with fund managers from the City of London and a presentation from the winning team on their investment strategy. The best part of the day however was jet boating on the River Thames from Westminster to Canary Wharf and back. Fabulous fun!’
