Scottish Schools’ Primary Cross Country Championships

On Saturday 21 April, 20 Junior 1 and Junior 2 boys and girls competed in the annual SSAA Cross Country Championships, held in the grounds of the Dunnikier Estate beside Kirkcaldy High School in Fife.

Both weather and underfoot conditions were ideal: enjoyed and appreciated by competitors and spectators alike.

‘All the Dollar athletes gave a good account of themselves and enjoyed the opportunity to run against all the other primary schools in Scotland,’ said Mrs Galloway (PE teacher).

In the team competition the Junior 1 and Junior 2 girls finished in 4th place; the Junior 1 boys achieving 6th place and the Junior 2 boys placed 11th.

The best individual performances came from Esther Lang who finished 13th and Madeline Spiers (both J1) who finished 16th in a field of 152 competitors. Amongst Junior 2 competitors, Riley Thomson finished 14th and Fraser Keatch finished in a highly praiseworthy 6th place.

Many thanks to all of the supportive parents who helped to make this such a special occasion for our budding young athletes.
