NYCoS National Boys Choir

Over the Easter break, a very exciting concert took place in Glasgow. The NYCoS National Boys Choir sang in Glasgow, under the baton of renowned conductor Christopher Bell.

Several Dollar Academy pupils performed: Tom MacFadyen (Form IV), Ruairidh Brown (Form III), Brogan Law (Form II), Archie Jaffrey-Smith (Form I) and Duncan Kay (Junior 2) who sang two brilliant solos in the second half. The boys had all taken part in a residential course the previous week, preparing the singers for the concert.

The Choir is for boys aged 10–16 with both changed and unchanged voices. Members sing with other boys to the highest standard, receive expert vocal tuition and develop musicianship skills. The Choir has produced some very high-profile performances, including BBC Proms in the Park, Edinburgh International Festival and Aberdeen International Youth Festival, as well as BBC TV and radio broadcasts.

Members of NYCoS National Boys Choir are amongst the most promising young male singers in Scotland and joining the Choir involves attending an informal audition, attending the week-long residential course and performing at engagements throughout the year.
