Instrumental Teaching Parents’ Evening

The Gibson building was buzzing on Monday 26 February as parents came to meet with our instrumental music teachers. This was the third such evening this term and ten teachers were there to speak with parents about their children’s progress on their instrument.

There were also some brilliant performances by pianists, guitarists, bassoonists, oboists, violinists and by the clarsach group.

‘It was an excellent opportunity,’ said Mrs Fitzpatrick (Director of Music), ‘for our young musicians to perform in a less formal setting and to enjoy the acoustics of the Gibson Auditorium. Some of the performers are preparing for the upcoming Perform in Perth Festival and this was a chance for them to perform their pieces to a small audience. It was lovely to hear so many polished performances and to see our young pupils growing in confidence.’

A wide range of music was performed, from Scottish ballads to contemporary Russian composers and a beautiful piece for violin and piano by our violin teacher, Mark Wilson.

Congratulations to all of the performers and a huge thank you to all of our teachers for their excellent teaching and all the hard work that went in to preparing for this evening.
