Head Boy Returns To His Roots As Mystery Reader

Muckhart Primary, like many primary schools, runs a ‘Mystery Reader’ week in which ‘community celebrities’ come in to read to a chosen class for ten or fifteen minutes. This year’s ‘Mystery Reader Week’ took place during the third week of March, and Muckhart Primary invited Dollar Academy Head Boy, Fingal Hall, to be one of their Mystery Readers.

With pupils from Muckhart Primary School

Fingal chose to read one of his favourite books from his own childhood: the unforgettable ‘Captain Duck’ from the Fix it Duck Collection to the P1/2 class he visited. The pupils loved it. It was so thrilling for them to have – not just a boring teacher, but a mostly-adult person from Dollar Academy read aloud to them… and he was once a Muckhart pupil, too! This return to his old primary school made the trip a meaningful one for Fingal, too: ‘It was just so nice,’ said Fingal, ‘to be able to go back to my old school. So many Dollar sixth-formers get to go and read to the kids in the Prep School, where they were often pupils themselves. This was just a lovely chance to re-visit my own primary school experience.’
