Evie Wills (Form VI) has been playing rugby and touring with Stirling County Rugby Club since the age of seven. In the last few years, the team has been coached by Mark Wills, Evie’s father.
At the European 7s Grand Prix SeriesEvie first began playing rugby for Scotland, at only 16 years old, when she played in the Scotland Seniors East v West tournament. Last March, she was selected to play in the Scotland U20s match against Northumbria; this was followed by an invitation to play in the U18s National 7s tournament in July.
Having trained with the Scotland Women’s 7s this year, she was then selected to travel to Kazan, Russia, for the third leg of the 2018 European 7s Grand Prix Series. As the youngest in the squad by five years, Evie was given the opportunity to play against Russia and Portugal. Scotland came third in the tournament, losing only to Russia and Poland: a fantastic result. This gave Evie her first cap for Scotland. Evie is probably the youngest player to ever receive a cap in Scottish Women’s 7s rugby—a fantastic achievement.
As the 7s season is over, she is currently training with Scotland Women’s U20s Futures Squad. She is also Vice-Captain of Dollar Academy hockey team
