This was the largest ever cast for a F1 Play and Carol Ann Duffy’s adaptations of eight European folk tales, Beasts and Beauties, provided many opportunities for an exuberant and talented cast. Deaths were bloody; limbs were severed; husbands scorned; chainsaws wielded; wands waved; sweeties distributed. Sisters were nasty; beasts were transformed; maidens were wedded and chests and buttocks were bared (just the Emperor’s). And endings were happy (except for those that didn’t survive)!
