Dollar Pupils Win Regional Section of Shares4Schools Competition

A Dollar Academy team of Form V Business Education pupils has won the regional section of the Shares4School investment competition for this year, a tremendous achievement. The team consisted of Daniel Robins, Daniel Valles, Euan MacPherson, Andrew King, Rob Alexander, Abdur Cheema, Sarah Dewar, Thomas Greer and Carrier Baxter.

The Shares4Schools competition is an event that allows students to invest real money into the real-world stock market. Organised by The Share Centre, a leading retail stockbroker, each team competing in the competition starts with an investment pot of £2,000 to invest into the stock market, with the aim of achieving the greatest profit over the period October to May.

Pupils can build upon their financial knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms of the stock market by working together to develop their investment strategy and their attitude to risk. At the end of the competition, the shares are sold and the team that has gained the most profit is declared the overall winner. Ultimately, the winning team and the three runners-up will be invited to attend a special award ceremony in London. Dollar pupils have done very well to win the regional level of this competition and we look forward to hearing further about their success.
