The Dollar Academy Juvenile Band won the Scottish Schools’ Piping and Drumming Championships on Sunday 10 March at Inveralmond Community High School in Livingston. In addition, Dollar entered the freestyle competition for the first time in a number of years, giving a first competitive outing to the tune that was specially commissioned for the Bicentenary year – Dollar Sunrise.
The judges professed themselves “blown away”, by the musicality of the performance, the accuracy of the playing and the beauty of the tune, which, of course, was new to them.
The Novice B Band finished third in their category and Dollar also entered a band in the Novice A category which finished in fourth place, so it was a very busy day for all involved.
