Dollar Hockey Players on International Duty

Over the Easter break, four members of our 1st XI team – the current Scottish Cup champions - represented Scotland in three test matches against Wales.

2018/19 1st XI captain Eve Pearson (Form VI) joined the Scotland Woman’s U21 side, a fantastic achievement at age 17. The team faced a well organised Welsh side, narrowly losing the first game 4-3. They drew the second match at 1-1 before losing the third and final match 5-1.

Form V pupils Amy Salmon, Rhiannon Carr and next year’s 1st XI captain, Lucy Smith, were all capped for Scotland’s U18 against Wales. The first game ended in a draw at 5-5 and the girls won the second match 2-1 thanks, in part, to a goal from Lucy Smith. In the third and final game, Lucy captained the side to a 4-2 victory.

Congratulations to Ollie Wilson (Form II) and Daniel Pearson (Form III), who were both selected for the Scotland U16 Boys against Wales and convincingly won the all three of their matches.

Former pupil Erin Stevens (1st XI 2017/18) played in the Scotland Women’s U21 squad. Jenny Walls and Georgia Smith (1st XI 2017/18), who are also in the Scotland U21 Women’s squad, were representing their clubs on the European stage.

Lynsey Allan, Dollar Academy’s Director of Hockey, said: “It’s great to have so many players representing the school at international level. These players inspire the younger pupils and bring a wealth of experience back to school hockey. I would like to wish them every success in their international involvement over the summer.”
