On Saturday 15 December, Dollar pupils competed against some of the top gymnasts in the country at the National Level 4 Qualifiers.
In the Primary competition, Lucy MacDonald and Laura Nicol (both Junior I) and Lilia Warden (Prep 5) performed with real poise and control during their two vaults and floor routines in front of a large audience and fellow gymnasts. The girls were delighted to win Team Gold with a high score of 84.70. Lucy MacDonald gained extremely high scores of 15.2 in her vault and 13.7 for her floor – consequently winning the individual gold medal. Lilia gained 13.2 for her floor routine and 14.9 in vault, while Laura gained 12.9 in floor and 14.8 in the vault. The girls placed 8th and 10th respectively. All three girls qualify for the National Finals which will be held on 3 March 2019 at the Bells Sports Centre in Perth.
The Secondary Level 4 Team, comprised of Lucy Macrae (Form V), Katy Hynd (Form III), Molly Kershaw (Form I) and Sarah Nicol (Form II), also performed well in their floor and vault routines. The team narrowly missed out of qualifying for the finals after being placed 14th out of 25 teams.
Well done to all of the girls involved and thanks to Mrs Smith for her hard work.
