Dollar Competes in National Piping Competition

On Friday 22 November, Dollar pupils competed in the Scottish Schools CCF Quartet and Trio Piping Competition, held at Edinburgh Academy.

This year, the competition attracted entries from eleven schools, with thirty-two groups taking part.

Dollar featured strongly in the prize list, with a first and second in the Trio Competition and a first and fourth in the Quartets. Their performances attracted many positive comments from the adjudicators and fellow Piping Instructors.

Placing first in the Trio Piping, and competing for the first time, was Pipe Major Ruaridh (Form III), Maisie (Form II) and Ava (Form II). The pupils who placed second in the Trio Piping were: Pipe Major Max (Form III), Hugo (Form IV) and Dugald (Form III).

The Quartet competition, where schools direct their best players, was won by Dollar’s A Quartet. This included Pipe Major Andrew (Form IV), Gilleasbuig (Form IV), Ruairidh (Form V) and Craig (Form V). Dollar’s B Quartet of Cameron (Form V), Callum (Form II), Alistair (Form IV) and Angus (Form II) came in fourth place in this competition.

On Monday, Rector Ian Munro presented our Trios and winning Quartet with The Forrest McLelland Trophy, The Birnie Trust Quaich and their shields during assembly.

Well done to all the pupils who took part in this competition.
