Over fifty musicians had entered the competition, and the finalists had come through two rounds. In the Winners’ Concert, eleven exceptionally talented musicians competed: three at Foundation level, three at Intermediate level and five at Advanced level.
This year’s finalists
The music performed ranged from Telemann and Handel to Brahms and Vallier. The adjudicator, Mrs Jenny Sumerling (Curriculum Leader of Music and Drama at Portobello High School and SQA Principal Assessor for Advanced Higher Music), commended the high standard of performance.
She gave a detailed adjudication which was full of positive and encouraging feedback for our young musicians.
The very deserving overall winners were Kyle Winn in Form I (Foundation), Andy Jarjour in Form III (Intermediate) and Chloe Burbury in Form II (Advanced). ‘Congratulations to the performers on a wonderful evening of music making,’ added Mrs Fitzpatrick (Director of Music).
