Dollar 1st XI hockey reach Scottish Cup Final

On a blustery morning in Edinburgh, Dollar beat Heriots 3-1 in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

After an evenly contested opening ten minutes, Dollar’s midfield began to dominate the game and there was considerable pressure on the Heriots goal. Two goals from clever short corners ensured that Dollar reached the half-time interval with a reasonably comfortable and well-deserved 2-0 lead.
Heriots battled tenaciously after the break and their hard work was rewarded with a good goal from a short corner of their own. A nervous fifteen minutes followed with the Dollar girls having to defend resolutely as Heriots searched for an equaliser. Ten minutes before the end, however, Lucy Smith put the result beyond any doubt with an excellent shot fired past the Heriot’s keeper. Dollar finished the game well on top, almost scoring a fourth goal from one of three successive short corners.
The final will take place at the National Hockey Centre in Glasgow on the evening of Friday 15th March.
