All pupils from Prep 1 upwards receive one hour of specialist art tuition in the Senior School Art Department each week and the work they have produced, both there and with their own primary teachers over the course of the year, was displayed throughout the Prep School’s corridors and classrooms/galleries.
The library ‘gallery’ was filled with recycled art ranging from birds, to dogs, to cheery chickens and shoes. Cast off books were re-modelled and paper flowers filled re-crafted paper vases.
The pupils of Prep 4 were the hosts for the day, responsible for marketing, invitations, refreshments and photography as well as human art sculptures and an array of brilliant paper crafted hats!
Despite the rather dreich conditions, pupils visited the beaches in the courtyards to immerse themselves in outdoor art and pebble decorating to the tune of sea shanties on the accordion.
The many parents who visited the ‘Gallery opening’ in the afternoon really enjoyed viewing the vast range of work on display.
Mrs Barbour commented to one Prep 4 reporter, “It’s a lovely, vibrant display of all the children’s art skills and a celebration of creativity”.
