1st XI Win 4th Consecutive Scottish Cup Quarter-Final

On Friday 6 December, our 1st XI faced Galashiels Academy to get through to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Dollar was prepared for a tough game, knowing that Galashiels had recently won their 2nd round fixture with a score of 4-0 against Hutchesons’ Grammar School.

Galashiels started well, and put our Dollar girls under a lot of pressure. However, after the first fifteen minutes, Dollar managed to take the lead and by half time were winning with a score of 1-0. Early in the second half, a defensive error resulted in Galashiels equalising. The game remained fast-paced, and within twenty seconds from equalising, Dollar took the lead again, making the score 2-1.

Dollar then played some excellent attacking hockey and managed to score a further five goals in the second half, meaning they finished with a convincing 7-1 win.

Lynsey Allan, Director of Hockey said: “It was our aim to go into the Christmas break with a semi-final spot. The girls have worked extremely hard and now deserve a well-earned rest. We have a lot of work to do after Christmas to prepare for the semi-final, which will take place in February.”
